This WIKI is a multi-pronged experiment in deploying "web2.0" in service of our collective pedagogical project. The goal is a community-authored collection (here's how to contribute) of short documents that provide a sort of "least you should know" about a bunch of topics that can loosely be labeled "what everyone (who is a student of the social sciences) should know." I anticipate that the result will be many different things:
(1) a go to resource for students,
(2) a linkable resource for faculty,
(3) an opportunity for faculty to cross-train and benefit from one anothers' expertise,
(4) a chance for faculty to engage in discussions about just what it is that everyone should know,
(5) a framework that can be used for student assignments (producing, enhancing entries),
(6) a portal to social science info that is "out there" created by us for us.

Welcome to YOUR new wiki! So what do we do now?
Format and Genre
I propose two basic formats, the reference card and the tutorial. The reference card is in the form of a single page on which one can look up the basics. Usually it amounts to revisiting what one has already learned but may not have kept in one's head. The tutorial is a bit more pedagogical in style. It is structured in a manner that introduces the topic, issue, or technique, situates it, provides motivation and background
